Title: Paramedic/Emergency Services Technician, Relief/Mercy Medical Center (Oshkosh, WI) Location: WI-Oshkosh Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, has a relief position for a Paramedic/Emergency Services Technician to work in our Emergency Department. Hours are variable, as needed and include some weekends and holidays. Mercy Medical Center's trauma team offers 24-hour care by highly-trained staff with sophisticated equipment. We offer a compassionate, whole-body approach to emergency and trauma care. Mercy Medical Center is a 157-bed facility, 25 beds in the ER. Our Emergency Department averages approximately 19,000 ER visits a year. All of our registered nurses are certified in emergency care, including: basic and advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, and trauma nursing core curriculum. Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh is a designated Level III trauma center. This means they have resources on site for emergency surgery and intensive care for trauma patients. We are skilled at assessing and stabilizing trauma patients, with resources to transfer patients to other hospitals when severe injuries call for further emergency care. Job Summary: The Emergency Services Technician II (EST II) will be a paramedic who functions as an emergency department team member under the direction of the RN and/or Physician. The EST IIs will be responsible for direct physical and technically skilled care and monitoring of assigned patients under the direction of the ED RN. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary, self-managed work team using a holistic, caring approach to patient care. Perform delegated aspects of age-appropriate patient care and technical patient care skills including basic rehabilitation, phlebotomy, respiratory therapy and EKG under the RN direction. Reinforce patient/family teaching provided by the RN. In addition to these responsibilities, they may also start IVs and administer medications after successful completion of IV and medication skills lab. They may also perform skills as defined within their scope of practice and applicable under their paramedic licensure after competency in these areas has been assessed. * Graduate of an accredited program in Paramedic Science is required. * Current Wisconsin Paramedic licensure required along with current National Registry (NREMT-P). Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required. * One year of clinical patient care experience required, preferably in an emergency setting. * Previous hospital-based EMT or paramedic experience preferred. * Crisis Prevention Institute training required within one year of hire.
